On May 28th Stephen and I celebrated 5 years of marriage! It has been a wonderful 5 years of growing together. He was 18 years old and worked on windmills when we got married. I was 19 and lived with his parents because I moved down here once we got engaged. He got to live in the emu barn. My Grandma Rose made the cakes, and my Grandma Kathy made my dress. We were married on Stephen's parents front porch. It was going to be in the front yard, but it RAINED the night before the wedding. That made it fun because then everyone got to park by the highway and Stephen, his brother James, and his best man Rod got to take the 4 wheel drive pickups and shuttle everyone 3 miles down the muddy road.
I always joked that I was going to get married in a camo dress. So my Grandma made a 'practice dress' to fit me before making the 'real' dress.
Running from people pelting us with bird seed. How do you like my white boots. I think my friend Rachelle kept those. She loved them and I didn't figure I'd have any use for white boots after that.
Here is the wedding party. Those 3 little boys in checked shirts...well, 2 of them are taller than me now, and one is getting close to being taller.
I was wondering...where is a picture with the kids in it? I forget there was life before children.
This is Grandma Rose. She makes pretty cakes. Thanks Grandma I love you. I didn't find any good pictures to put of Grandma Kathy. Sorry.
Here my bridesmaids are giving Stephen a talking to on how to treat his wife or they'd come pound him. He's done a wonderful job. :)
The grooms cake and a real hat. Can you tell which is which? lol. I think Grandma did wonderful. Or did Ruth make that one Grandma? Sorry, I don't remember.

thanks so much for sharing, love the wedding party outfits and the groom cake!
hi, my name is Clara and I started reading your blog recently (and enjoy it!) - what an amazing wedding! I had never seen anyone using such a country theme at their wedding before my friend got married a few years ago - she wore riding boots under her wedding dress, and after they got married they rode away together (she was still in her wedding gown) into the sunset - riding double - on a horse! Yours is the second country themed wedding I've seen, and I think it's great!! :)
Hi thanks for all of your pictures...your blog is so special because it helps me feel closer and share your life.....I made the groom cake mostly but Ruth showed me how and helped me every step of the way...I couldn't have done it without her for sure. Wedding cakes I can do, but shaped cakes are her specialty.
Was Stephen not at your wedding, there was a little boy in white in the pictures but he sure wasn't old enough to marry.
Happy anniversary!
Love your country themed wedding!
Congratulations! In today's world of marriages that don't last, I think every anniversary ought to be cause for great rejoicing! I love country weddings and your's looks really neat. I love the little boys shirts and the colors.
Aw, it looked like a beautiful wedding!
Aww . . . what special photos and memories! Thank you for sharing about your special day. :) I enjoyed it!
