Waiting

Well I finally got the cakes made and decorated. Now we just need to wait for Tyrel's nap to be over. Here are some before party pictures. The cake is not nearly as cute as I was hoping. Grandma is a professional cake decorator, and my mom is just naturally talented (at things that don't require athletic ability.) So I am used to cakes being pretty and thought it would be easier than it was. I guess I will stick to outdoorsy things...until next year. At least Tyrel doesn't care.

Birthday Flop

I feel like falling in a hole and crying. The carrot cake birthday cake I tried to make for Tyrel flopped. I don't know what I did wrong, but it didn't make cake. My BIL and SIL are going to pick up some cake mixes for me before coming out. I would just go with the peach cobbler that my MIL said she would make, but the teddy bear shaped cake is tradition in my family. I like tradition. Sorry Ty baby. I thought that home made carrot cake might be somewhat more healthy than a cake mix, but oh well.
Okay, I am done with my whining.
Happy Day After your First Anniversary of Birth Tyrel.

Last Day

Well, today is Tyrel's last day to be a baby. He is WALKING today, not just toddling a few steps. He can walk across the room. He will be 1 year old tomorrow. Wow...It has gone so fast, and yet it also seems as if he has always been here.

Here are some pictures of Tyrel walking.

I thought he looked rather "peasantish" in his cape that Uncle Mark put on him.

Good Advice

I have a good piece of advice.
When you are learning to use a cutting torch...or really even if you are experienced..wear real shoes.
I really don't advise wearing Croc knock offs.
Small pieces of molten steel can fall in the little holes and melt between your toes.

Or so I've heard.
I wouldn't know from experience.
Well not more than one time. yet.

The Price of Being Cheap

A few months back, I bought an iron. Just in the last week I finally got me an ironing board. I was ironing one of Stephen's shirts today and after about 3 minutes, I noticed that it wasn't getting wrinkles out anymore. So I felt of it....It was cold. So I set it down and messed with it, and it still didn't warm back up. So I unplugged it and left it alone for awhile.
While Tyrel was napping, I decided to try again. The same thing happened...it warmed up initially, but not after that.
It is the cheapest iron from Wal-Mart...so I am not sure if it is just junk, or if I am doing something wrong.
I remember about a month ago I threw away the box and instructions while thinking " I know how to use an iron, I don't need these."
Guess I was wrong.
So mom, am I having a Becky Moment...or do I have a piece of junk?

Wish List

So what do I want for Tyrel's birthday? I can't make a list of what he wants because he really doesn't care. Well here is a list of things I want for Ty, but don't have the money for at the moment. Which means you can disregard if you want to Mom and Grandma (since ya'll are the ones this list is for..hehe), we would love anything.

So without further ado...

  • a wagon..a metal red radio flyer preferably...with wooden slat sides... I know picky picky.
  • Wrangler jeans (size 18 mo.)
  • a cowboy shirt (size 18 mo.)
  • cowboy boots...I don't know what size.
  • Chaps...Tyrel size.
  • a vest...Ty size
  • a Ty sized Cowboy Hat
  • Money for me to get any of the above

He is getting baby sized spurs and a baby sized lariat rope from Stephen and I.

I guess Friday or Saturday we will have cake and such. I can't believe he's almost 1.

Happy Birthday Stephen!

Well I'm back.
I went to Arkansas this past week to visit my family. We had lots of fun. We went blueberry picking at a friends house, blackberry picking around my parents house, went to a museum, and set off fireworks (not at the museum) . Stephen surprised me by showing up one morning while I was there, and hadn't told me he was coming. Having him there always makes visits better.

On the way back home we stopped in Ft. Worth to see my grandparents and my brother and his family..Actually I saw BOTH my older brothers, as Bill was down visiting with Chris. It was fun. I love my family. I wish we could stay longer when we go.
The day we left we went with Bill and Glynna to see Granny. It is so hard to see her, she isn't really Granny anymore. Just sitting there staring and mumbling. I miss my Granny.

Daniel and Sam came back with us. (Zesch's, they want to surprise Joshua on Sunday if you don't tell him they are here) They can hardly wait til Sunday to see the friends they made last summer when they came to visit.
Mostly we have just been swimming for fun since they've been here.
We did take them out shooting yesterday and they even got to shoot Stephen's .45 a few times. You should have seen the smiles they had after shooting it!

Sam went to work with Stephen on Monday and Daniel stayed with me. I think that is the first time I have ever spent that much time with just ONE of the twins. I got to know Daniel, not just "the twins". Daniel will be going with Stephen today, so I will get to hang out with Sam.

Today is Stephen's 22nd anniversary of his birth. Happy Birthday Sweetie! I Love you! I think if I can borrow a vehicle today I will go and get the stuff to make him a cheesecake. droooool.

Tyrel has started taking steps. His record so far is 5 in a row. Mostly he takes 3 steps, then falls and crawls and tries again. He will probably be walking by his birthday.

Well I do believe I have run out of things to talk about. Sorry, no pictures for this post, I need to take some.
